**Are the ice houses heated?**

Yes, all our ice houses are heated while guests occupy them.

**Do I need to bring a generator?**

Lake Vermilion Ice Fishing provides a generator for the ice houses. You may bring your own as a backup if you wish.

**Is there running water in the houses?**

No, there is no running water or drinking water provided.

**Is there a refrigerator in the ice house?**

There is no refrigerators in the ice houses. Please pack your perishable foods in a cooler.

**Is there an oven and cooktop in the ice house?**

Yes, all overnight ice houses have a small cooktop and oven. They are equipped with basic cookware and utensils. Each house has at least one frying pan and one larger pot.  Feel free to bring your favorite pan from home if you would like!

**Do I need a Minnesota DNR Fishing License? What if I have a fishing license from another state?**

Yes, every person over the age of 16 who is fishing must have a valid Minnesota Fishing License, regardless of whether they hold a fishing license from another state.

**What are the fishing limits and slot sizes, and how can I transport my fish home?**

Please refer to the Minnesota DNR regulations for limits, slot sizes for Lake Vermilion, and fish transport regulations.

**Do I need to bring my own tackle, rods, and fishing electronics?**

Yes, renters must bring their own rods, tackle, and electronics. Contact us before your trip to learn about the current setup recommendations.

***Lake Vermilion Ice Fishing does rent out electronics, including Garmin Livescope, for a fee.***

**Is bait provided?**  

No, bait is not provided. There are several great bait shops in the area, located in Cook, Tower, and Virginia. Please remember to bring a bait bucket as well.

**What type of fishing rod is suggested?**  

Light to medium-heavy rods work best.

**Are there rattle reels?**  

Yes, each house is equipped with at least 4 rattle reels.

**What type of clothing and footwear should I pack?**

Although our fish houses are heated and cozy, winter temperatures can be harsh. Be sure to pack warm clothing and winter boots. Inside the ice house, slippers or tennis shoes are suitable.

**Do I need to bring my own bedding?**

Yes, please pack your own sheets, blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags.

**Is there an electric outlet in the house?**

Yes, each house has electrical outlets to charge your cell phone, power crockpots, and operate CPAP machines during your stay.   You may want to bring a power strip if you have a large number of electronic items.

**Is there a TV in the ice house?** 

Yes, all ice houses are equipped with smart TVs. You can connect the TV to your mobile hotspot to enjoy your favorite shows!
